As part of their 'Industrial visits' module, Intake 40 students of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree program visited the Senok Wind Farms (also known as Mampuri Wind Farms) the  on June 11th, 2025. The group, comprising more than 50 participants including students, academic, and non-academic staff members, explored the facility.

Three wind plants located near the Lakvijaya Power Station, on the Kalpitiya peninsula, in Mampuri, Puttalam District are among the pioneering wind power projects in Sri Lanka. Operated by Senok Energy, the farms consist of multiple phases with a combined installed capacity exceeding 30 MW. Each wind turbine stands at over 80 meters tall and harnesses the region’s strong coastal wind resources to generate clean, renewable energy for the national grid.

During the visit, the engineering team from Senok Energy provided a comprehensive overview of wind energy generation, including turbine operation, power conversion systems, and grid integration challenges. The visit offered invaluable exposure to sustainable energy technologies, reinforcing the students’ understanding of renewable power systems and their growing importance in Sri Lanka’s energy future.
