The 17th International Research Conference of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, held on 26th and 27th of September 2024, featured an inspiring Technical Session by the department of Electrical Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering under its engineering track. The session was chaired by Dr. Sanika Wijayasekara, Assistant Professor at SLIIT, Sri Lanka. The judging panel for the session included, Prof. J Rohan Lucas, Senior Professor, Faculty of Engineering, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Dr. Sampath Perera, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa, Eng. Gehan Lokunarangoda, Deputy General Manager, Metro 02, SLT-Mobitel.

The Best Paper Award of the technical session was presented to the paper titled: "Edge Computing using FPGA with the Deployment of Neural Networks for General Purpose Applications", authored by Kevini Perera, Chamod Hettihewa, Manupa Wickramasinghe, Ashan Sandanayake, Chamali Rajapaksha, and Pubudu Pathirana.

In parallel, a the poster session of IRC engineering track showcased over 10 research posters from the department of electrical electronic and telecommunication engineering. The Department of Electrical Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering extends its gratitude to all participants, presenters, and judges for their dedication to advancing academic and technological frontiers.
