The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ‘IET On Campus KDU’ was held on July 10, 2024, marking a significant leadership transition. New board members received badges, and outgoing members were awarded with certificates.

Dr. Tharaka Mohotty, the Chairman of IET (Institute of Engineering Technology) Sri Lanka, was the keynote speaker of the AGM. Dr. Mohotty, with over 38 years of experience in television broadcasting and multiple awards, including the Asia-Pacific Broadcast Union’s Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award, shared his extensive knowledge on digital broadcasting and shared insights from his illustrious career. His contributions greatly enriched the event, providing invaluable perspectives to all attendees.

The occasion was graced by distinguished guests including the Vice Chancellor of KDU Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration) Major General DCA Wickramasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor T Weerawardhena, along with senior professors, faculty coordinators and lecturers.

Other special invitees included the immediate past chairman of IET Eng. Induwara Amal, the chairman Eng. Nimantha Madushan and members of the IET Sri Lanka Network Prof. Anuradha Jayakody and Eng. Ravi Rupasinghe.

Outgoing president of IET on campus KDU, Cadet Sergeant RL Senerath and incoming president Sahan Premachandra addressed the gathering emphasizing on its’ achievements and future goals. The gathering was entertained by  the Beige Band and a traditional Pooja dance.

Newly appointed Secretary Dinethya Bandara expressed gratitude to all contributors, and elaborated on  the future initiatives and reinforcement of the chapter’s commitment to advancing engineering and technology at KDU.
