On 11th October 2023, a field visit was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University to MAS Intimates – Unichela (Pvt) Ltd Panadura for Intake 39 Mechanical and Mechatronic engineering undergraduates.
MAS Intimates – Unichela (Pvt) Ltd specializes in garment products mainly ladies’ bras and briefs. Upon arrival, company’s HR representative welcomed the undergraduates and provided a short presentation to introduce the company and its standards. The undergraduates were able to witness the RM and FG sections of the factory initially. Then the undergraduates were explained about the production process and the quality checking inside the laboratories. The Factory automation engineer briefed about the autonomation applications inside the factory and undergraduates were able to see the automated machines used in the factory. The visit was an excellent opportunity for the students to apply their theoretical knowledge to a real-world scenario and gain practical experience about the production facilities.
