A Guest Lecture on GPS/GNSS and Applications in Vehicle Safety and Automation was conducted by Dr. Chaminda Basnayake, a renowned person in the field who is the Principle Engineer, Market Development at Locata Company (PVT) Ltd. 

The lecture focused on the system as a whole and what the company does in terms of Global Positioning System and Global Navigational Satellite Systems. Various dignitaries such as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Eng. (Ret). Udaya Dampage, Heads of Departments of various departments and lecturers of the Faculty of Engineering were present. 

The students had an amazing an informative time and asked a lot of questions that were answered as well. The Head of Department of the Faculty of Engineering Wng. Cdr. U D L P Gunasinghe presented a plaque to Dr. Chaminda Basnayake to appreciate his valuable time and knowledge that he shared with the students.
