KDU Teams Shine at IET YP Sri Lankan Chapter’s Annual Cricket Event

The IET Young Professionals Sri Lankan Chapter held its highly anticipated annual cricket encounter for the third consecutive year on July 28, 2023. The event, hosted at the GH Buddhadasa Grounds in Battaramulla, drew enthusiastic participation of eight teams from engineering students across five esteemed universities, KDU, USJ, UniVoTech, SLTMNIT, and SLIIT.

KDU made an impressive mark on the tournament with two of their teams delivering stellar performances. KDU Team B emerged as the champions and KDU Team A also made a significant impact, securing the position of 2nd runner-up.

One of the highlights of the tournament was the exceptional performance of Sunera Rathnayaka from KDU, who was honored with the title of Best Batsman.

The event highlighted the importance of extracurriculars in student development. Sports like cricket build teamwork, leadership, and resilience. The IET YP Sri Lankan Chapter’s cricket encounter shows how sports complement academics, fostering well-rounded individuals ready to excel.
