IMechE Annual Field Visit 22/23
The IMechE Annual Field Visit 22/23 took the undergraduates of the 38th Intake to Vario Systems in Badalgama. This company specializes in providing electronic services such as PCBA assembling, wire harness assembly, box building, and testing for various markets including industrial, defence, aviation, medical, and energy. The visit was scheduled for the Mechatronics undergraduates.
Upon arrival, the company"'"s heads provided a short presentation to introduce the company and its standards. They also briefed the students about the safety measures and precautions that they should observe during the visit. Each team was assigned a training engineer to guide them throughout the visit.
The students visited the sections for PCBA assembling and wire harness assembly. The training engineer explained the process of loading and unloading stock, the assembly process, testing process, quality checks, standards, safety measures, precautions, and the technologies used in each section.
Vario Systems is specialized in two sections - wire harness assembly and PCBA assembling. The company"'"s wire harness assembly is responsible for manufacturing and assembling cables and connectors that are used in various industries such as the automotive, medical, and aerospace industries. On the other hand, PCBA assembling is the process of mounting and soldering electronic components onto a printed circuit board.
The visit provided the undergraduates with valuable insights into the workings of a modern electronic services company. They were able to learn about the technologies used in the industry and how these are implemented to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. The visit was an excellent opportunity for the students to apply their theoretical knowledge to a real-world scenario and gain practical experience in the field.
