A "Brainstorming Session" and the Fellowship Banquet of the IMechE Sri Lanka Group, of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, based in UK, was concluded at "Pegasus Reef" Hotel, Wattala on Saturday, 8^th of January 2022. The event was successfully held with the presence of the Officials of the IMechE South Asian Regional Committee, IMechE Sri Lanka Group, Associate Members of the IMechE and Affiliate Members representing the IMechE Student Chapters of KDU, Universities of Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Ruhuna, Sri Jayawardanepura, and SLIIT. Representing the IMechE Student Chapter of KDU, Department Coordinator; Capt. TDK Gunasena, Inaugural President; SUO HGDRY Jayawardane, Secretary; Day Scholar GS Hansika and the Assistant Secretary; SCQMS MSM Marshard participated in the program. Insight on the existing activities of the IMechE, future aspirations to improve the world with Engineering, proposals for new campaigns and events to be organized by the IMechE Sri Lanka group, and several other paramount matters were discussed, followed by a fellowship tea party. An interactive session and an accompanying presentation to network the Affiliate Members across the Student Chapters of the participating universities and raise awareness about the benefits of the IMechE membership was held, in which the representatives from KDU, were highly praised and recognized despite being freshers to join the community. The event was graced by the distinguished presence of the Chair of the South Asian Regional Committee of the IMechE, Mr. Chanaka Wanniarachchi, CEng FIMechE, President of the of the IMechE Sri Lanka Group; Eng. Lal Weerasinghe, IMechE Sri Lanka Group Young Members Chair; Dr. JR Gamage & other dignitaries.
