Strengthening Academia-Industry Collaboration: Department -- Industry Consultative Board (DICB) for the year 2025

The ''Department-Industry Consultative Board'' for the year 2025 of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was held successfully on September 02, 2025, at the Borad Room, KDU. Industry specialists representing a wide scope of industries participated in the DICB 2025, along with academic staff from renowned universities in Sri Lanka. The objective of this DICB 2025 was to focus on ''Mechanical and Mechatronic Degree Curriculum''.   

LCdr(E) AGS Silva welcomed and introduced all the honourable invitees to the DICB 2025. He handed over the forum to Prof. -Ing. Thusara Weerawardane, Dean/ Faculty of Engineering to deliver the welcome speech. Afterwards, Commander (E) WAMI Fernando, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering briefed on the Department. A briefing on Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering programmes was presented by the respective programme coordinators.  

Then, Invitee Dr. KJC Kumara presented on the topic “Teaching & Training Gen Z Mechatronics Engineers: What Works and Why.” Later, the panel discussion was mainly focused on the modules which involve design and their assessment of the Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronic Engineering Degree Programmes. DICB 2025 concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. ULTH Ratnayake. 

Following distinguished personnel from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, and industries as well as academic experts from the University of Moratuwa, Open University of Sri Lanka, and SLIIT Malabe Campus, attended DICB 2025.
