The APEX AWARDS ceremony is the one and only award ceremony that will recognize the best of the best SEDS chapters among the listed chapters in SEDS Sri Lanka. The APEX Awards ceremony for the year 2024 was held at SLTC Trace Campus, Maradana on 5^th of April 2025, as a part of the Annual General Meeting of SEDS Sri Lanka.

The awards were presented under various categories, covering up all the field aspects of a quality and prominent chapter where SEDS KDU got nominated for 4 awards including,

• Most Active Chapter in Social Media 
• Best Project by a Chapter (LAZARUS ’24)
• Most Innovative Chapter 
• The Best Overall Chapter (Winner)

SEDS KDU emerged as the Best Overall Chapter among 2 other nominations from SEDS MORA and SEDS Ruhuna. The certificate was awarded by Dr. Achala Pallegedara, Senior Advisor of SEDS Sri Lanka to the president of SEDS KDU Ms Chathurika Basnayaka. The Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and few other members represented SEDS KDU at this event.

This marks the recognition, the passion and the dignity that SEDS KDU has achieved within 3 years since the initiation, where it stood up on its mission of educating fellow undergraduates about the benefits of Astronomy and Space Exploration. The Executive Committee and the team would like to thank all the individuals, including the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Dean – FOE, Head of the Department – Aero Engineering, advisors – SEDS KDU, lecturers, past executive committees and the volunteers who supported with their immense skills and experience to the chapter throughout this stunning journey.
