With the mindset that drones are very quickly becoming an advancing field in aviation, the premier company SULECO partnered with the Student Chapter to conduct a joint drone workshop that conducted of two parts, held on the 9th of August 2023 at the FOE 7-1 classroom.

The first part included theory on how drones work, the electronic components behind the drones and the aerodynamics behind them as well as what the company did in Sri Lanka. The second part, and arguably the most exciting part was conducted in the KDU grounds where the company demonstrated the flying of the drones. The staff showcased the drones' capability on zooming in on a target from very far and the usefullness of the drones in Search and Rescue Operations.

The students were also given hands on experience in flying the DJI drone fleet and everyone enjoyed it immensely, with the company promising further workshops in the future. The event was graced by students from the Faculty of Engineering as well as the Faculty of Computing.
