We proudly announce that Miss Thamalu Kumarasinghe, an undergraduate of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, became the national winner of the ‘Speak Out for Engineering (SOFE) competition 2024, organized by IMechE Sri Lanka Group on 20th October at Renuka City Hotel, Bambalapitiya. This outstanding achievement marks a significant milestone for Miss Thamalu Kumarasinghe as she is selected to represent Sri Lanka in the upcoming South Asian SOFE Competition.
The SOFE competition is open to undergraduates and young professional engineers. This is designed to promote the art of public speaking. Competitors are judged not only on their technical content but also on the effectiveness and clarity of their presentations. Miss Thamalu Kumarasinghe impressed the judges with an engaging, well-researched presentation on “Powering up the tomorrow we envision” showcasing exceptional clarity, technical expertise, and confidence in the field.
Her success in this national-level competition showcases her talent as she competed against some of the brightest engineering minds across the country.
