The undergraduates of BSc Eng (Hons) in Marine Engineering and BSc Eng (Hons) in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering of Intake 37, 38 & 39 visited National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERDC), Ekala on 09th September 2022. The purpose of the visit is to motivate students to engage in research and development activities in order to have a direct impact on the Socio Economic Development of Sri Lanka.
During the visit, the undergraduates were able to study the working procedure of modern CNC machinery (Lathe, milling, laser cutting), Coordinate Measuring machine, 3D printing & scanning at the technological incubator of the establishment.
In addition to that, students visited Technological park, Engineering museum, Bio- gas project, Pre-stress concrete project and other creative industrial and domestic innovations developed by NERDC such as Hopper making machine, Pepper thrasher, Smoke fish processor, Industrial coconut de- husker etc.
