The National Water Supply and Drainage Board"'"s (NWSDB) Centre of Excellence for Water and Sanitation (CEWAS) hosted the International Water Conference 2022 from December 14 to December 17, under the theme, "Water for Sustainable Development: Cooperation, Partnership, and Appropriate Technology". The main purpose of the Conference was to promote and sustain future collaboration, which is essential to ensure operational sustainability.
The NWSDB collaborated with many other research and doner agencies like the AFD, ADB, JICA, World Bank, Korea Eximbank, IHE Delft, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), CRIWMP, UNDP, Unicef, and other institutions in Sri Lanka in order to promote and sustain future collaboration, which is essential to ensure operational sustainability.
Upon the invitation of NWSDB, Cmde (E) MCP Dissanayake, HoD (Marine Engineering) along with the staff of Department of Marine Engineering showcased a solar powered domestic brackish water reverse osmosis plant and a high performance Reverse Osmosis Plant with significant filtration capability, to provide safe drinking water to the Chronic Kidney Disease unknown etiology (CKDu) affected communities, for an exhibition held at the conference premises.
Participants from Department of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Technology, KDU also presented their innovations at the exhibition along with many industrial experts.
The exhibition was attended by many foreign and local dignitaries.
