Commissioning and opening of Marine Diesel Engine Simulator

The Marine Diesel Engine simulator was commissioned and opened by General (Retd) Kamal Gunarathna WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil the Secretary, Ministry of Defence at the invitation of Major General MP Pieris RWP RSP VSV ndc psc MPhil the Vice Chancellor, on 10th March 2021.

Engine was acquired from a decommissioned ship of Sri Lanka Navy and establishment of Engine Simulator was carried out by well competent technical staff of Marine Engineering Department – KDU, under the direct supervision of Head of Department Marine Engineering.

This engine can be named as possibly one of the few operational engines in it’s model and purpose of establishing such a simulator is to cater the demanding competence of marine engineers, by simulating real time emergency situations which are frequently confronted when working with marine diesel engines onboard.
