The “Inter-University Spaghetti Bridge Competition—2024,” organized by the Civil Engineering Society, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), was held on 18th August 2024 with the participation of more than 35 teams representing state and private universities in Sri Lanka.
The awards ceremony was graced by Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara, Vice Chancellor, KDU, with the participation of Professor TL Weerawardana, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, KDU; Dr. NS Miguntanna, Head of the Department, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, KDU; academic and non-academic staff and students of the Faculty of Engineering, KDU; and students and staff of other universities.
The panel of judges comprised of 4 experts specialized in civil engineering: Eng. Sherwin De Silva, Ceylon Electricity Board; Eng. MDKN Mathugamage, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Sri Lanka; Lieutenant Colonel OMR Priyantha, senior lecturer; and Dr. Thushara Madanayake, senior lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, KDU.
The winners, first runners-up, and second runners-up were won by teams from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
