Guest Lecture on Logistic Modelling

Student Chapter of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) for Highway Engineering Society (HES) – Sri Lanka organized a guest lecture on 19th July 2017 in the main auditorium of the university.

The resource person was A/Prof. Russel Thompson who is an associate professor in Transport Engineering in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Melbourne in Australia.

The adviser of the student chapter, Dr. Ishani Dias welcomed the chief guest lecturer, invitees and the students participated. Lecture conducted by A/Prof Russel0 Thompson was under the topic of Logistic Modelling. The aim of the event was to extend international knowledge on logistics and encourage the students on variety of aspects in Transportation Engineering.

Dr. Kumari Fernando, The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Captain Janaka Gunaseela, The Dean of Faculty of Computing, Dr. Nilupul Gunasekara, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Namali Sirisoma, then Head of the Management and Finance Department, Mrs. Sandyani Pussapitiya, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and many other academic staff of KDU participated in the event.

It was a good start off for the KDU student Chapter for HES and A/Prof Thompson extended his interested in collaborative research with KDU, which can be considered as a great opportunity for both undergraduate and post-graduate students of KDU.

The event was successfully finished with over 100 audience and a tea party for the invitees. The vote of Thanks was presented by the Chapter president, Mr. Namal Abeysiri and the Chapter executive committee is as follows:
