Overview

The Student Chapter of the Royal Aeronautical Society of KDU is dedicated to providing education on the aspects of Aviation and Aeronautical Engineering in Sri Lanka. The Chapter conducts workshops by renowned professionals in the industry as well as field visits to Hangars, AMOS, and organizations in the field of Aviation. In keeping with the Sustainable Development Goals, the chapter also aims to educate the younger generation of Sri Lanka and conducts voluntary work such as blood donation campaigns.

History

The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), United Kingdom is one of the premier professional societies for Aeronautical Engineering which is functioning since 1866. Being one of the Corporate Partners of the RAeS since 2014, KDU acquired certain privileges for both academic staff members and undergraduate students of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering. The Club officially started operations in 2018 and has continued to function since, even during the time of the COVID pandemic.
