IET On Campus – KDU Annual General Meeting 2025

The Annual General Meeting of IET On Campus – KDU, held on 3rd July 2025, marked a key milestone in the chapter’s journey with the official handover of leadership. The newly appointed executive board received their badges, while outgoing members were awarded with certificates of appreciation for their dedicated service.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, At the symbolic lighting moment, the six renowned guests, including the Chief Guest and the Keynote Speaker, joined to illuminate the “IET AGM” letters, marked the official beginning of the event in a truly remarkable and memorable way.
A highlight of the event was the insightful keynote address delivered by Dr. Ruchira N. Wijesena, a distinguished materials scientist and Senior Lecturer. With expertise in textile engineering and a PhD in chemistry, Dr. Wijesena is celebrated for his groundbreaking work in nanotechnology and smart materials. His presence added great value to the occasion, inspiring the audience with his expert insights.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thushara Weerawardane, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Capt (L) RT Hettiarachchi USP, Head of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering. Also present were senior faculty members, senior professors, senior officers, advisors, faculty coordinators and lecturers.
Representatives from the IET Sri Lanka Network also attended, including past and present leaders such as Dr. Tharaka Mohotti, Eng. D.R.N. Jayasuriya, Prof. Anuradha Jayakody, Eng. Ravi Rupasinghe, member of the IET YP Sri Lanka Network Eng. Induwara Chandrawansa (Chair), and Eng. Nimantha Madushan (Immediate Past Chair), whose presence added prestige and professional insight to the occasion.
Remarks were shared by outgoing President Sahan Premachandra and incoming President Sachila Herath, reflecting on past accomplishments and outlining the chapter’s future direction. The event also featured cultural performances, including a traditional Pooja dance and a musical performance by the KDU Beige Band, adding vibrant energy to the evening.
The newly appointed Secretary, Kaveesha Wanninayaka, expressed gratitude, acknowledging all who contributed to the event’s success and reaffirming the chapter’s continued dedication to promoting engineering innovation and professional development at KDU.
