Four state of the art laboratories attached to Faculty of Engineering were declared open on the 10th March 2021. This occasion was graced by the Chief Guest General (Retd) Kamal Gunarathna WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil the Secretary, Ministry of Defence on the invitation of Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP VSV ndc psc MPhil, the Vice Chancellor of KDU. The distinguished guests, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Commander of the Navy, Mr PBSC Nonis, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Brigadier Prasad Edirisinghe, Rector Southern Campus KDU, Brigadier W. Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Defence and Administration of KDU and Eng. SU Dampage, Dean Faculty of Engineering were also graced the ceremony.
The respective laboratories incepted were Marine Engineering Simulation Laboratory, Construction Materials Laboratory, Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory and Outdoor Power Station which would contribute to elevate the research and innovation standards of the university which would contribute to the nation at large.
