Final Year Project Exhibitions

Final Year Project Exhibitions showcase the best research projects completed by undergraduates of the Faculty of Engineering. Projects that are having more industry relevance, include novel product development, or include in-depth engineering research are selected to be presented in an interactive online platform.

KDU provides an opportunity for students to develop effective science communication skills, which every researcher should have. Through presentation, feedback, and interaction with academics, students will gain invaluable experience to take with them throughout their careers.

Guest Lectures

It is a practice of KDU to organize frequent guest lectures in different fields of interest by invited guest speakers from the industrial sector, professional bodies and local and foreign Universities to share their thoughts, knowledge and expertise with the students. In addition, students participate in lectures, workshops and seminars conducted by professional bodies such as IESL, SLASS etc.

Field Visits

The curriculum also contains Industrial Visits which is directly related to the industrial exposure of students in addition to the compulsory module on Industrial Training. The aim is to provide an opportunity for the students to observe the practical implementation of specific Mechanical Engineering projects and practices. Students have the opportunity to observe the most recent and state of the art plants and projects being implemented in Sri Lanka. Industrial visits are involved with different types of Mechanical Engineering applications such as the manufacturing plants, power plants, workshop facilities in order to provide the exposure to a wider scope of the field. Industrial visits are generally 1-2 days in duration. After each visit, based on the observations made, students are expected to prepare a technical report.
