Professor WCDK Fernando, a Senior Lecturer, in the Department of Civil Engineering was appreciated for the valuable, dedicated, unblemished and continuous service provided to the University for over 20 years at the 12^th Long Service Awarding Ceremony of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University which was ceremonially held on 07^th July 2022 at the Main Auditorium. Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Major General Milinda Peiris graced this esteemed occasion as the Chief Guest with other honoured invitees. Six (06) members of the Academic and Non-Academic Civil Permanent Staff who had completed 35, 30, and 20 years of meritorious service respectively at this University were awarded and honoured with certificates and cash prizes at this event.
Professor WCDK Fernando joined KDU in July 2001, and was a Lecturer till January 2011. From 2002 to 2008 and from 2011 to 2014 she was the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. From February 2011 to January 2017 she was a Grade II Senior Lecturer and from August 2016 to March 2019 she was the Dean in the Faculty of Engineering. She became a professor in Civil Engineering with effect from 30.12.2020. Her immense contributions have played a crucial role to make KDU a reputed university in Sri Lanka. In the same time many qualifications, publications, awards and memberships proves her capabilities and the ability of facing challenges under any circumstance.
It is a great honour and proud moment to the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, KDU which remarks the commitment of the Professor WCDK Fernando for over 20 years for the upliftment of the department with fullest inspiration.
